Streams is an interactive, Internet-based media network. It is owned and operated by the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) located at 2929 N Mayfair Rd, Milwaukee WI 53222. All of the creative works on Streams are broadcast with the direct permission of the artist/composer and copyright holder. Every other creation is an original work, licensed to us royalty-free for broadcast on this site. This is the license agreement every Streams artist signs.

WELS maintains license agreements with the three largest United States performing rights organizations:

• American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP)
• Society of European Stage Authors & Composers (SESAC)
• Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI)

A performance rights organization exists to collect and distribute royalties on behalf of audio and video artists for performances of their copyrighted works under copyright law. In some countries it is called a copyright collective or copyright collecting agency.

The artists whose work appears on Streams receive no direct compensation from WELS as a result of the broadcast of their works. The most important thing to our artists is that people have the opportunity to enjoy their creations. Most of our artists get very little, if any, airplay anywhere else. You won't hear many WELS artists on commercial radio or see their works on television. That's one of the reasons why we created this outlet.
